Alongside peers as Nubya Garcia, Shabaka Hutchings, and Zara McFarlane, saxophonist Camilla George is a veteran of the rising London jazz scene. Her music is a captivating fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and afro-futurism. Camilla’s music is politically minded and closely connected to African history.
Now based in the UK, the artist was born in Eket, Nigeria, and has always had a passion for music, especially the blend of African and Western music. When she was eleven years old, she started learning to play the saxophone. Whilst studying in London, she performed in bands as Jazz Jamaica and Courtney Pine’s Venus Warriors. And this year at Super Sonic Jazz Festival 2022 she will be gifting us with her presence on November 18 at 19:00 in Paradiso.
