Gallowstreet has been a household name for over a decade; the Amsterdam-based brass band is known to many for their energetic horn playing that brought them to Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Dour and many other festivals and clubs at home and abroad. In 2024, the band presents a new album that partly takes them back to where it started for them with 2016’s ‘Battleplan’ while simultaneously continuing to innovate and experiment with what is possible with wind and percussion instruments. With ‘A Trip Worth Making’, the band reflects on more than a decade of adventures the band has collectively experienced. No longer the young dogs of yore but still unabatedly eager, they have added a wealth of experience and the band’s sound has become more solid, dynamic and mature. After the symphonic ‘Lowlands’, recorded entirely in nature with carried brass sounds, the band returns with this 5th album to the strength with which the band came on stage in 2012. Using recognisable anthems, driving grooves and drawn-out brass sounds, this album shows Gallowstreet in optima forma.
