Jasmine Myra is a saxophonist, composer and bandleader based in Leeds. The British musician beautifully bridges the gap between jazz and neoclassical on her debut album, “Horizons. Jasmine Myra is part of the city’s vibrant, creative music scene and has surrounded herself with some of the best young talent in the north of England. Her original instrumental music has a euphoric and uplifting sound, influenced by artists as diverse as Bonobo, Ólafur Arnalds and Kenny Wheeler. Artists whose music carries an emotional charge, which you can also hear in Myra’s own compositions.
She recently signed to Gondwana Records and worked with producer Matthew Halsall, whose keen ear for talent helped make GoGo Penguin’s music, Mammal Hands known worldwide. Halsall has been called a standard-bearer of new British jazz and was a major contributor to ‘Horizons’.
