Rotterdam-based trumpet player Peter Somuah explores the boundaries between jazz, funk, and traditional Ghanaian music, mixed with a hint of electronics. The warm and melancholic tone of his trumpet makes him stand out immediately. Somuah grew up with the music of Miles Davis and Roy Hargrove, which is clearly reflected in his unique and innovative sound. His talent has been recognized both nationally and internationally: in 2021, Somuah won the Erasmus Jazz Award for young jazz talent, and in 2022, he won the prestigious Edison Jazz Award with his debut album ‘Outer Space.’ He also performed at Super-Sonic Jazz Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival in 2022, and was featured at the Eurosonic Noorderslag showcase festival in 2023.
