The Messthetics is an instrumental trio consisting of Joe Lally on bass, Brendan Canty on drums, and guitarist Anthony Pirog. The band was formed in 2016 and emerged from the musical backgrounds of its members, with Lally and Canty formerly being part of the influential punk band Fugazi.

James Brandon Lewis is an American jazz saxophonist. He is known for his expressive and powerful playing, integrating elements of jazz, blues, and free jazz.

Together, these artists have developed a unique sound that is both experimental and accessible. Ranging from heavy funk to jazz-like melodies and exciting art-punk, the musical journey of this quartet promises an immersive exploration of diverse styles, resulting in a unique and engaging listening adventure for fans. Their first album together will be released in March, and they will perform at Tolhuistuin on May 23rd.
