About us
Super-Sonic Jazz is an Amsterdam-based non-profit platform for exciting artists who move within the universe of jazz. In collaboration with Paradiso, we organize concerts, jams, and the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Calling our artists, crew, and visitors ‘family’ isn’t something we do without intention: It’s our goal to unite, connect, and inspire each other. Apart from organizing events and releasing music, we share background stories about the artists we love and extend knowledge about past and present music. We are building this community together.
Super-Sonic Jazz Festival
Since 2017, the Super-Sonic Jazz Festival has been a prominent fixture in Amsterdam's cultural landscape, offering a diverse lineup of groundbreaking Dutch and international acts. Held across various venues in Amsterdam, including historic churches, our festival provides a unique platform for intimate performances and uninhibited improvisation, bridging the gap between global and local talent. Past editions of the festival have featured electrifying performances by renowned artists such as Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote, Bilal, Yussef Dayes, Robert Glasper and Kokoroko, captivating audiences with their boundary-pushing music.

Super-Sonic Jam
Super-Sonic Jazz focuses on emerging local talent by organizing jam sessions with Super-Sonic Jam, a concept that originated in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Since early 2024, Super-Sonic Jam has taken place at Skatecafe, where Super-Sonic Jazz collaborates with a different partner each time to host the jam. Editions have already been held with BIRD, House of Knowledge, Higherlife Collective, INI Movement, Els Jam, and Steam Down. The concept remains the same each time: a tight house band takes the floor in the center of the room, surrounded by visitors. Throughout an improvised set, dozens of guest musicians and vocalists are invited to join in.

It’s our mission to bring together music aficionados and musicians, while disconnecting a little more from our online lives. You can join and support us by becoming a member for €5 per month. In return, you’ll receive an ‘old school’ offline mailing every few months. A short recap on what the Super-Sonic Jazz: The Movement is. For us, it is an expansion on the way we are able to communicate with both artists and audience. These concerts, promoted under the Super-Sonic Jazz banner, serve as immersive showcases of the diverse and dynamic world of jazz and improvisational music.
