After four sold-out editions, Super-Sonic Jam returns to Skatecafe for another vibrant jam session in the middle of the venue. This time, together with the Rotterdam-based organizations House of Knowledge and music venue BIRD, we are providing the musical framework. A collaboration between artists from Rotterdam and Amsterdam, aimed at connecting the scenes and communities of artists from both cities. As part of The Hub, we are inviting the local Rotterdam scene, and a bus full of artists will come to Amsterdam to join the jam session.

Prior to the jam session, a panel will take place with the theme ‘Nurturing the Scene: Creating Fertile Ground for Artists.’ The panel will discuss the local scenes in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Ghana, and Cape Town, with a focus on talent development, collaborations, and the current state of affairs in these cities. More information about the panel and its participants will follow soon.

House of Knowledge
House of Knowledge is a grass-roots organisation that aims to strengthen the position of young artists in the Performing Arts. They do this by producing year-round programs, events & tailor-made trajectories including jam sessions, master classes, peer-to-peer coaching, live sessions & much more. Expect many guest musicians, featuring emerging talent and renowned artists.

Super-Sonic Jam
Super-Sonic Jam is a concept that was born in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. During these informal jam sessions, musicians and visitors would gather to play together late into the night; the focus was on spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation. Since early 2024, Super-Sonic Jam has been held at Skatecafe. For these jams, Super-Sonic Jazz invites other parties and musicians to host. Past sessions were led by the London collective Steam Down, the Haarlem initiative INI Movement, and the Amsterdam-based concepts Els Jam and Higherlife Jam. Super-Sonic Jam has also been invited to organize jams at other events, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and SMIB TNO Fest. Throughout the set, numerous guest musicians and vocalists are invited to join in.

Skatecafe
From 18:00 to 20:00, you can order pizza from Dick & Dick, but you need to make a reservation. Dick & Dick is part of Skatecafe and is located behind the venue at the square. If you still have energy after the jam, you’re in luck. SIEM, one of Super-Sonic Jazz’s resident DJs, will once again set the perfect vibes for the evening.

Super-Sonic Jam is part of ‘De Hub,’ a project where music venues and talent development organizations from Haarlem, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague join forces to help emerging artists advance in their careers. ‘De Hub’ is building a sustainable infrastructure for talented acts to grow artistically, organizationally, and personally. It is a joint initiative by Patronaat, Popcentrum Slachthuis, Stichting INI Movement, BIRD, House of Knowledge, Paradiso, Super-Sonic Jazz, PAARD, and Orisun Studio.
