Kurashi Collective x Tabanka

Kurashi

With roots in Curaçao and Amsterdam, Kurashi Collective channels the rich mix of Afro-Caribbean, Latin American and European influences that shape the island’s cultural landscape. What started as a platform to celebrate Curaçaoan heritage has evolved into a multidisciplinary collective where music and community come together. Moving seamlessly between electronic and organic sounds, Kurashi Collective creates a musical identity that is both deeply rooted and forward-looking.

Tabanka

Bringing the vibrant sounds of Cape Verde to Rotterdam and beyond, Tabanka puts a fresh, contemporary spin on funaná, the upbeat and infectious music and dance style deeply rooted in Cape Verdean culture. Inspired by influential artists such as Bitori, Bulimundo and Code di Dona, the group honours the genre’s rich musical heritage while blending it with contemporary influences from pop and jazz. Driven by the rhythmic pulse of the diatonic accordion and the distinctive, percussive sound of the ferrinho, their music is made to get people moving. Once forbidden under Portuguese colonial rule, funaná has grown into a powerful expression of Cape Verdean identity, celebrated through rhythm, movement and collective joy. On November 21, Tabanka joins the Kurashi afterparty, bringing the infectious energy of Cape Verde to the dancefloor for a night of music and celebration.
