Super-Sonic Jam was born in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. These informal late-night sessions brought musicians and audiences together in the spirit of spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation. Since early 2024, the jam has found a new home at Skatecafé, and after five sold-out editions, it now returns to where it all began: the Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Regulars know the drill—a tight house band sets up in the middle of the room, surrounded by the crowd. Throughout the night, dozens of guest musicians and vocalists are invited to jump in. Visitors and amateur musicians are welcome to join as well.
Steam Down Steam Down is a London-based music collective that hosts a weekly jam session in Peckham, known as SD Weekly. Founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Ahnansé, it was created to connect musicians and producers across backgrounds and disciplines. What began as a local session has grown into a cornerstone of London’s music scene. Over the years, Steam Down and Super-Sonic Jazz have become more than collaborators—they’ve become family. They've joined us on stage at both the festival and our jam sessions, and we've returned the visit, jamming with them in Peckham alongside artists like Bnnyhunna and Junya Appiah. Last year, Steam Down closed the festival with a legendary jam session. Those who were there know: it was pure magic. This year, they’re back for two appearances—on Saturday with their brand-new album, and on Sunday to close out the festival in true Super-Sonic style.
