Acclaimed American jazz, funk, and R&B saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin began her musical journey at the Fiorello LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and further honed her skills at New School University. Early in her career, she played with jazz legends like Clark Terry and Reggie Workman, leading to performances with Rashied Ali, the David Murray Big Band, and James “Blood” Ulmer.
Benjamin’s deep jazz roots and dynamic arranging skills have made her a sought-after collaborator for luminaries like Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and The Roots.
