Drawing inspiration from artists like Robert Glasper, The Free Nationals, and BADBADNOTGOOD, the Utrecht trio .mulitbeat—comprising Boudewijn Pleij (keys), Thijs van Zutphen (bass), and Aron Smit (drums)—crafts distinctive R&B/hip-hop infused with a touch of jazz, and rarely do this alone.
Their album ‘channel island’, packed with vocal features, is set to release in April 2024. The album pays homage to the Utrecht district of Kanaleneiland, where it was created, featuring collaborations with Pete Philly, GINGE, vAn, Thierry Ganz, Kay Slice, Joya Mooi, Melle Jutte, Leonard Luka, and Tennishu (Butcher Brown). The trio has already amassed an impressive catalog of music, including their debut album ‘Toolbox’ produced by Noflik, and a recent contribution to Super-Sonic Family Vol.2.
Exclusively for their Paradiso album release show, .multibeat brings along several of these artists: GINGE, Thierry Ganz, Joya Mooi, Kay Slice, and Melle Jutte.
Kicking off the evening with her intimate and deep R&B vibes is Amsterdam’s own Maddy Moreah.
